The week I stopped explaining myself
For years I opened every conversation with an apology disguised as a résumé. Stylist, but also fighter. Actress, but also founder. The 'but also' was doing a lot of work.
Somewhere in the middle of a camp I stopped. Not out of confidence — out of fatigue. And nothing bad happened. People filled in the blanks themselves, usually generously.
The disciplines were never separate. Fighting taught me composition: what to leave out. Design taught me timing. Acting taught me that a character is just a set of decisions repeated under pressure.
